Name: Zayd bin Thabit bin Dahhak bin Zayd bin Amr Al Makhzoomi Al Ansari
When Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, he was 11 years old. He had already embraced Islam and also memorised seventeen Surahs of the Qur'an Shareef.
Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit (R) had the great honour to be a scribe of Wahi (revelation). He was among the Fuqaha (expert jurists) of the Sahabah (R), especially in the laws of inheritance. He was one of those who memorised the Qur'an Shareef in the lifetime of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and played an integral role in its compilation in the era of Hazrat Abu Bakr (R) and in the era of Hazrat Uthman (R). Many Sahabah (R) narrate Hadith from him.
Hazrat Anas (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “…The most knowledgeable of my Ummah regarding the laws of inheritance is Zayd bin Thabit (R)…” (Tirmizi, Ibn Majah)
Hazrat Anas (R) narrates, “Four people from the Ansar memorised the Qur'an in the lifetime of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam): Ubay bin Ka'b, Mu'az bin Jabal, Zayd bin Thabit and Abu Zayd (R)…” (Bukhari, Muslim)
Demise: He passed away in 45 A.H. at the age of 56 in Madinah Munawwarah.
