A Message of Encouragement to the Muslim Community of South Africa

In times of volatility, let us draw strength from our Islamic values and embrace the principles of unity, resilience, compassion and turning to Allah Ta’ala. Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم emphasised the importance of unity among believers by likening the believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy to one body. When any part of the body suffers, the whole body feels the pain.

With this profound analogy in mind, let us come together as one cohesive community, supporting and uplifting each other through these uncertain times. It is imperative that we cast aside all issues of disunity and adopt unity, even though we may share different views. Islam teaches us to stand firm in our convictions while fostering understanding and respect for diverse perspectives.

Furthermore, let us exemplify the spirit of generosity and kindness that is intrinsic to our Deen. In the midst of uncertainty, let our actions speak volumes as we extend a helping hand to those in need. As Allah promises in the Quran: "And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:195)

In these times of uncertainty, let us all turn to Allah. Every family should engage in excessive Istighfaar, be consistent on Ayat-e-Karima and charity. Masjids in our communities should initiate Yaseen Khatams and Dua. Through the barakah of these A’mal we will draw the mercy of Allah upon us and our community. Let us ensure to abstain from all sins especially immodesty, extravagance and disunity. All these draw the anger and displeasure of Allah. As we stand on the brink of a new chapter in our nation's history, let us approach it with steadfastness, resilience, and unwavering faith. Let us embody the principles of Islam in our words and deeds; striving for justice, harmony and unity in our communities.

May Allah bless us with wisdom, strength and guidance as we navigate the challenges ahead. Together, united in faith and purpose, we shall emerge stronger than ever before.
