Q: With the upcoming elections, Muslims are asking for guidance on whether they should vote? And who should they vote for? Please advise
A: Scholars have permitted voting in the elections of the country, as it has an impact on the lives of all citizens. If one is unable to bring about the desirable change, one may at least reduce harm and wrong.
In these times, it is difficult to find a perfect or ideal party/candidate to vote for.
It should be noted that voting for a particular party/candidate does not necessarily mean that one agrees with and conforms to all their beliefs, values and ideologies. Rather, the intention is that the party/candidate will support the cause of justice, welfare of the masses, good governance and foreign policy which will ward off harm and benefit the oppressed.
