Class Of 2024 Achieves Historic Pass Rate

With a combined pass rate of 87.3%, the Matric Class of 2024 has achieved the highest pass rate in the history of the nation.

In response to the developmental challenges, urban decay, and the 2022 flood damages, President Cyril Ramaphosa created the eThekwini Presidential Working Group in April 2024 to help rebuild and provide support to the eThekwini municipality.

From the 6th-17th January, the Department of Home Affairs will be extending operating hours, applicable from Mondays to Fridays.

Following the conflict between the High Court and the Department of Basic Education in November, the Department will now be publishing the 2024 matric results in national newspapers.

Expected to run for a week between the 7th-14th January, the Department of Social Development alongside the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and the National Development Agency (NDA) will be hosting an outreach programme in the Western Cape to promote sustainable means of living and to combat poverty.

On Monday this week, Eskom successfully synchronised Koberg’s Nuclear Power Station; Unit 2; to the national grid.
