For the duration of Ramadan 1447 AH/2026, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre provided a total of 37,680 Iftaar and hot meals; including drinks; to 15 different venues in Durban. These venues were across areas such as Bester, Castlehill, City Lights (Effingham), Effingham, Greenwood Park, Ibnis Musallah, Inanda, Kenville, Lacey Road, Malahazi, Puntans Hill, Seaview, and Westrich. Venues in the Parlock and Sea Cow Lake areas were provided with sustaining savouries.
For the month, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre’s ‘Sponsor-A-Kajoor’ Initiative saw the donation of 7,350 kilograms of dates, which was distributed to official prison services, Maktabs, Non-Governmental Organisations, Masjids, and Musallahs in areas of South Africa and Maputo.
Additionally, 1,750 Litres of Haleem was distributed, and 900 grocery packs were handed out to families in need across nine different areas, including Effingham, Kenville, Kwa Dabeka, Lamontville, Sea Cow Lake, Seaview, Umbilo, Unit 7 (Chatsworth), and Woodhurst (Chatsworth).
On the day of Eid, a total of 2,400 hot meals and drinks distributions took place across 12 venues in the Durban area, including Castle Hill, City Lights (Effingham), Greenwood Park, Inanda, Kenville, Lacey Road, Malagazi, Puritans Hill, Sea Cow Lake, Seaview, Sim Place (Effingham), and Westrich.
This Ramadan fostered the spirit of generosity. The Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre strives to continue outreach programmes such as these to benefit communities, and is made possible through the generous donations received, as well as the tireless work by both staff and volunteers alike.
