The documentary was criticised for the presenter’s, Abdullah’s, father being the deputy minister of agriculture in Gaza; of which is under Hamas administration.
Gary Lineker - former football player and broadcaster - defended the documentary, and was one of more than 500 media professionals signing an open letter against the BBC for removing it.
“I think you let people make their own minds up. We’re adults. We’re allowed to see things like that. It’s incredibly moving,” Lineker said in an interview. “I think [the BBC] just capitulated to lobbying that they get a lot.”
As of right now, over 51,000 Palestinians; including thousands of children; have been killed in Gaza due to Israeli attacks in the region since 7th October 2023.
