The project is expected to be completed in 60 months. Major construction such as road widening, implementation of drainage structures and systems, earthworks, electrical, and landscaping, amongst others, will take place within this time period.
SANRAL’s KwaZulu-Natal Project Manager, Nondumiso Mabaso, stated, “We urge motorists to be aware that the impact of the construction on traffic will be significant… To prioritise safety of both construction workers and road users, the speed limit along the route will be reduced to 40km/h for heavy vehicles and 60km/h for light motor vehicles during construction.”
