The 19th Australian National Imams Council Meeting Fosters Unity & Religious Leadership

Attending the event was the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) alongside BBSI, Canada, USA, and Australian delegates.

Before the event, the delegates visited one of the oldest mosques in Australia; the establishment of which dates back to the early 1900s. It was an invaluable opportunity to reflect on Islam’s rich history and its lasting impression on the country.

This was followed by a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Australia, which strengthened relationships with the exchange of perspectives and matters pertaining to and affecting the Muslim communities in Australia and at large. Additionally, the delegates also attended the launch of the Islamic Studies curriculum at one of Brisbane’s largest Islamic colleges.

During the ANIC, a focus was placed on its commitment to supporting Imams, Islamic scholars, and religious leaders in their development, alongside various other topics. These included the unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, combating the rise of Islamophobia, recognising the expansion of Australian Islamic Education Services, as well as reaffirming its commitment to the Muslim community.

For the UUCSA and other delegates, these meetings provide valuable opportunities to explore, discuss, and provide support and solutions to various matters affecting the Muslim communities both in Australia and around the globe. The GISC reaffirmed the importance of uniting communities and learning from the experiences of others, as well as cooperating among Imams and scholars for the benefit of the Ummah.
By strengthening these relationships and continuing to collaborate sincerely, a lasting legacy for future generations can be established.

May Allah Ta’ala place blessings in these gatherings, strengthen the bonds between communities, and enable a collective effort to benefit the Muslim Ummah and wider society. Ameen.
